One of the first steps to take on the road to effectively heal hemorrhoids is to recognize the warning signs. Often, the start of hemorrhoids is with regular constipation where constant pushing and straining to move the bowels causes the sensitive veins in the anus to swell, itch and become inflamed. If left unattended, these veins can become painful and result in rectal bleeding. You can avoid a trip to the doctor by trying these simple steps at home.

Step 1 - Get 8 Glasses of Water In Per Day. Did you know that drinking water works like a free stool softener? As a minimum, make sure that your water intake is in increments of 8 ounces per serving and at least 8 glasses every day.

Step 2 - Avoid Strenuous Exercise. We know working out for many people is a must. But strenuous exercises such as cycling and weight lifting can cause excess strain on the muscles. Yoga, swimming and aerobics are excellent ways to get in a good workout when hemorrhoids are in need of a break.

Step 3 - Try a Drugstore Hemorrhoid Relief. There are many different ointments, creams and pads that your local drugstore has available without seeking a prescription from your doctor. You can wear a cream or use an ointment at any time but then tend to work better at night while you’re sleeping. Hemorrhoid pads are easy to use and can be discarded by flushing or throwing away afterwards.

Step 4 - Change Wiping Method. Stop using any toilet tissue that has been treated with fragrance, dyes or chemicals. Try to use moistened toilet paper instead. Or, baby wipes that are for sensitive skin can work just make sure that they are the kind that are flushable.

Step 5 - Increase Your Fiber. If your mom told you this when you were a kid, she was on the money. Fresh fruits and vegetables are excellent fiber sources. So are many varieties of beans and peanut butter. Increasing your fiber intake can help to soften stools.

Step 6 - Try A Suppository. The cheapest item in this category is petroleum jelly. Many of the suppositories available over the counter are made of the same type of ingredients. This means you can use an inexpensive generic brand and receive the same healing relief.

Step 7 - Take a Soak. Using warm water, not hot, fill your tub with 8 to 9 inches water and sit for 10 or 15 minutes. You may add a cup of Epsom salts but consult your physician before doing so if you have a chronic illness. Repeat the sitz bath three times daily.

You may be able to put out the fire with these healing hemorrhoids tips if you catch them soon enough. As with any other homeopathic remedy, it is important to pay attention to your body. If symptoms return with a day or so, do not clear up completely within a few days or start to become worse during your treatment, you should make an appointment to see your doctor for medical care right away.
